Youth Employment Week
As Youth Employment Week draws to a close, we celebrate the success of Eloise Turner, from Sheffield.
Unfortunately, Eloise (20) didn’t have the best time at college and was feeling a bit lost prior to joining a Street League Academy. She was involved with some negative peer groups, unsure about her future, and didn't know where or who she could turn to. Eloise found Street League through her Family Support Worker from the Council. Eloise's main goal was to improve her prospects of entering the Police Force and to help her do so, obtain her level 2 in Maths and English, something Street League could offer her.

Eloise felt relieved and more positive about her future, knowing that she could study for her Maths and English qualifications in a supportive environment while being helped towards her goals. Eloise really enjoyed our sports offering and found our mental health sessions useful, gaining knowledge on how to support herself and others with mental health problems.
On completion of her programme with Street League and after successfully passing her Level 2 Maths and English, Eloise received the news that she has been successful in securing a place on a Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship, starting in 2026. In the meantime, she is going to continue volunteering as a Special Constable, whilst working part-time at Hollywood Bowl.
When asked about her favourite part of being at Street League Eloise said, “The best bits about Street League were the range of different activities. There’s learning and sport and you get a bit of it all, which keeps it fun and interesting.”
Adam Greenwood, Progressions Coordinator for Street League Sheffield said, "Eloise was a pleasure to have on the Academy. She worked hard to identify a career path and made good progress towards this by achieving her Functional Skills Maths and English qualifications. We are very proud of Eloise and wish her continued success in her journey to joining the Police Force.”
